We are proud to announce the collaboration of Windham Lions Club and Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors Network (WNHNN) in hosting the “Windham Community Benefit 5K” Run and Family Walk to be held on Sunday, October 31, 2010. Funds raised will directly benefit the Neighbors program in their efforts to assist Windham residents experiencing a critical emergency need for heating fuel and/or food.

With the support of the Windham business community and citizens of the town, our groups have raised money to help families in need. The Lions Club has donated to many different causes in past years. With this new partnership, they are dedicating their efforts to better help the Windham families by focusing their financial aid to WNHNN. They will also continue their support in their fight against blindness, diabetes and deafness, as all Lions Clubs do.

WNHNN was founded in October 2007. They focus their resources on those residents who do not qualify for or are in the process of waiting for assistance from other entities. 100% of all funds raised go directly to these residents. It is the intention of the two groups to make this an annual combined event.

We appreciate the generous support you have given in the past years. Please help this new and exciting collaboration that assists our residents and make this the most successful fundraiser ever.

With this new partnership, they are dedicating their efforts to better help the Windham families by focusing their financial aid to WNHNN. Please respond by August 15 in order to be included in the race brochure. 2,000 brochures will be distributed throughout Windham and surrounding communities.

$1,000 Contribution

• Your company logo and name will be placed on the race T-shirt

• Your company banner (supplied by sponsor) will be prominently displayed at

  and race literature will have your company name on it

• Your company name will appear on a sandwich board along the race course

• Space will be provided in the race tent for you to promote your business

$500 Contribution

• Your company logo and name will be on the race T-shirt

• Your company banner (supplied by sponsor) will be prominently displayed at

$300 Contribution

A contribution of any amount will help and be greatly appreciated. In-kind donations and volunteer opportunities are also available. Please make your check out to Windham Benefit 5K and mail it to PO Box 448, Windham ME 04062. If you have any questions feel free to contact Lion Marty Gavin at 632-7905.

Within the next 10 days a member of the above groups will contact you to engage you as a sponsor and address any questions you may have. By sponsoring the Benefit 5K you will be letting our community know that you support the work of Windham’s great community organizations. In addition to sponsoring the race you are welcome to participate either individually or by having a team.

On October 25, 2009 the Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors network held the second 3 mile Walk-a-Thon/Road Race n at the Windham High School.  It was a big success. More than 50 local businesses helped sponsor the event with money and or donated items for the raffle and refreshments for the walkers. The 2010 5k Walk/Run plans have already begun.
